Empress's Sitting Room

The empress d. Teresa Cristina used to receive her friends, to talk and embroider, in this private room, with furniture reflecting the style of the time and the short stature of the empress. The sofas and chairs are upholstered with aubusson tapestry and the letter 't' (Teresa) over a crown. They came from one of the palaces in Rio de Janeiro. The inlaid sidetables were also from this palace. The bronze candelabrum, inlaid with porcelain plaques, show scenes from the legend of 'La Fontaine'.
