Until 1864, year in which they were married, the princesses d. Isabel and d. Leopoldina spent a large part of their youth in Petrópolis. Here they dedicated themselves to study, under the constant care of the emperor, horse riding in the outskirts and walks , in the company of ladies-in-waiting and friends. The princesses' bedrooms face each other at the far end of the upper floor; delicate stucco decoration can be seen on the ceiling. The bedroom belonging to princess leopoldina shows d. José I style furniture from the XVIII century. The bed, with a high headboard decoratively carved with beads, has spiral columns supporting a canopy. The remaining furniture, made in brazil in jacaranda, show typical portuguese rococo style. In the detail, Princess Isabel - photograph taken in 1915.
